Roseland Cottage Carriage Barn
On the Common, Route 169, Woodstock, Conn.

Directions:
Route I-395 to Exit 97. Turn onto Route 44 west for 1 mile; east on Route 171 for 3 miles, when it merges with Route 169 north. Continue on Route 169 for 1.5 miles; house is on left.

Prominently sited across from Woodstock Common, Roseland Cottage, built in 1846 with thrusting gables and coral-pink exterior, stands in colorful contrast to the otherwise colonial character of this lovely New England village.

The grounds and carriage barn at Roseland Cottage may be rented for weddings, receptions, meetings and private parties. In addition to the beautifully maintained lawns and gardens, the space includes a 30' x 60' function room, full kitchen, and handicapped-accessible restrooms. The carriage barn can accommodate parties of 60, while the grounds have a maximum capacity of 250 people. Arrangements also may be made for guests to tour the museum. The Langdon House Garden
Portsmouth, N.H.

Directions:
Route I-95 to Exit 7 (Market Street); bear right after railroad tracks; turn right onto Deer Street; left onto Maplewood Avenue; left on State Street; right on Pleasant Street; house is 1 block down on left.

The Governor John Langdon House is often cited as one of the finest Georgian residences in the country. An expansive lawn at the rear of the house is shaded by mature trees and enclosed by hedges and a perennial flower border. A 100-foot rose and grape arbor, installed in the early 1900s by owner and family descendant Elizabeth Landgon, leads to a small pavilion and secluded.

A carriage house with restrooms and catering space is adjacent to the garden. Rental of the property is limited to outdoor, seasonal use. The grounds can accommodate groups of up to 150 people. Tours of the Langdon House, built in 1784, may be arranged in advance for function guests. Please contact the Langdon House staff at (603) 436-3205.
